90-Second Newbery

Ferbruary 15, 2019

The 90-Second Newbery Film Party

This unique film fesitval, featuring movies made by aspiring film makers, ranging from elementary to high school age, will be returning to Treehouse on February 15, 2019 beginning at 6:15 p.m.!

If you haven't joined us for one of these screenings, they feature short, amazing, and often amusing films made by young filmmakers all over the country, including some specially selected local submissions this year, – even one filmed by Treehouse Staff featuring our visitors! The Festival is hosted by two award-winning Young Adult authors James Kennedy and Keir Graff, and is held at Treehouse in the Museum's own Simmons Storybook Theater.

Please click here to visit the Festival's homepage where you can see some examples of past entries. Again, part of the fun and the magic is that these are hilarious, often laugh-out-loud funny, and thoughtful videos made by kids, young adults, and their families based on books that won the Newbery Medal or an Newbery Honor Award. The young filmmakers choose the book they want to retell.

Not only is James Kennedy the founder of the 90-Second Newbery Film festival, he is also the author of The Order of Odd-Fish. Keir Graff is the author of The Phantom Tower, The  Matchstick Castle,  and The Other Felix. These gentlemen are spectacular hosts for an entertaining evening for children, teens, and grownups, so be sure not to miss it!

Tickets will be available very soon, and are free for both members and nonmembers, so check back!
