Donating to Treehouse:
Treehouse Museum opened in February, 1992 with 9,000 sq ft. of space the Ogden City Mall. During its nearly 10 years in the Mall, Treehouse produced award-winning programs and exhibits. Treehouse has received multiple prestigious Awards from the Institute of Museum and Library Services in 1998, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010 and 2011. In 2002, Child Magazine named Treehouse one of the top 50 Children's Museums in the nation. Treehouse was displaced from its home in December 2001, when demolition of the Mall began. Treehouse found a temporary home in the former Standard-Examiner building. The Board and staff of the Museum began in earnest to work toward a new, permanent home for Treehouse. In 2003, the Treehouse Board of Directors secured property on 22nd Street and Keisel Avenue, part of the Ogden Mall Redevelopment Project. On May 9, 2005 hundreds of children and their families joined with the Treehouse Board of Directors, the Treehouse staff and community and civic leaders to break ground and celebrate the start of construction of a new, permanent home for Treehouse. Construction of the two level, 28,000 sq ft building is now complete and the Elizabeth Stewart Treehouse museum opened to the public on August 19, 2006. Project costs for the new building totaled $6 million. The Stewart Education Foundation completed the campaign with a naming gift. However, due to interest charges on the construction loan, some fundraising remains. Treehouse welcomes and appreciates any donations in support of construction costs, or in support of ongoing exhibits and programs, or of general operating expenses. |
